Writer Application
Hi, my name is Phil McCarty and I am interested in writing for NewEnglandFilm.com.
Despite the horrifically vanilla nature of that introduction, I assure you that I am not a very vanilla writer. Unless of course you like Vanilla, in which case I will shed any unnecessary flavoring for you. Not because I am soul-less or a sell-out (yet), but just because I love writing, which I can only assume is at least one/third of the job description.
I imagine the other third would include a genuine love for film. After obtaining a degree in English Literature at the University of Virginia, I studied screenwriting at the University of Southern California. I worked as a script reader for Academy Award winning producer Ed Feldman (The Truman Show, The Golden Child), as well as Spirit Award winning producer Mary Jane Skalski (The Station Agent). I love films. I cry a little bit at the Pixar ones.* I hope that's okay.
*Not counting Cars. I cried in that one too, for less laudatory reasons.
The last third would probably be writing ability. I was the humorist for the University of Virginia, however they have yet to digitize any of those articles, so I'll attach something from a blog I wrote a few years ago. I hope it's not too informal.
Thank you,
Phil McCarty

film stories
I have many film stories that I want to sell to the any film industry but especially to the Hollywood film industry, but couldn't do that yet,
so I am looking for a person whom could do that, and it will be my co-writer,
would you like to do that?so easy just to sell the stories and I believe that my stories will be block busters .
