Elam and Scout, two college buddies, invent and sell a love potion cocktail to mend broken relationships and assist blossoming romances. They keep the "philter" underground by offering it secretly in their nightclub. However, their noble intentions are abused by those with more selfish and corrupt desires of the heart, including the despicable financiers. Elam and Scout's friendship is challenged when they become conflicted regarding the ethics of their invention. Their respective romances are also impacted by each guy's choice whether to utilize the love potion in his own relationship or not. Their illegal operation is eventually exposed and exploited by a secret government agency that wants to use the philter for covert intelligence operations. Now Elam and Scout must try to rectify the damage they've done to those who used the love potion and prevent further abuse by international superpowers ... all the while remaining best friends.

The Woodsman

Production Company:
Townsend Productions
Plot/Description:
Feeling confused or distracted? Electronic devices can often distort our perception of the world around us and seriously alter our engagement with other people. The Woodsman follows Denise, a psychologist in Manhattan, who travels upstate to see her Mother. After a mild car accident, she must learn to survive alone in the wilderness with her unborn child. The film touches on the current issue of our dependence on technology and how it affects our lives and our relationships on a daily basis. The film uses Abraham Maslow’s theory of “The Hierarchy of Needs” as a way of illustrating a recent overall shift in human behavior. Maslow’s theory ranks our needs as humans based on the order in which they should generally be met. In the beginning of the film, Denise attempts to satisfy higher internal needs such as self-esteem, personal achievement, and sexual intimacy. Alone in the wildness, Denise struggles to meet her most basic needs such as food, water, and sleep without the conveniences of modern technology.

Southie 74

Plot/Description:
In 1974, Federal Judge Arthur Garrity made a decision to desegregate the Boston Public School system. In an attempt to racially integrate schools that rested in Boston’s segregated neighborhoods, black and white students were bused across the city, meeting protests - and sometimes violence - outside of their schools. Due to their angry and rowdy demonstrations as Roxbury students entered South Boston High School, the Irish community of South Boston gained media attention that painted its residents as racist, uneducated thugs. Fast forward nearly 35 years later as local filmmaker and Southie Boy, Padriac Farma embarks on a journey to discover South Boston’s true voice following this dark point in their history. For some, the issues resulting from forced busing have never been closed. There is still anger that permeates through the parents of the students forced to leave their neighborhood and a stigma that continues to follow all residents of South Boston. The purpose of this film is not to prove who was right or wrong, but rather to give a voice to the residents that lived and fought through this period in Boston’s history. It is an opportunity for South Boston residents to finally share their story.

Journal of the Black Atlantic

Production Company:
Emerson College's Warlords Productions in association with Zandrak Productions
Plot/Description:
Journal of the Black Atlantic is a short film being produced in association with Zandrak Productions, and Emerson College's Warlord Productions. It is being shot on a Red Epic camera on location in Quincy, MA on an actual battleship, the USS Salem, that is from the same time period in which the movie will take place (1940s/50s). A combination of Emerson students, along with filmmakers and actors from the Boston area, will be collaborating to make this film a success. Since this is a period piece, and most of the film takes place in the flashback, we need to do extensive costume design work to make this film as realistic as possible. Not only do we need to recreate Marine uniforms, but we have to recreate Marine uniforms from the 1940s/50s. Materials for this can get quite expensive, so we need help raising that money. We also have the amazing opportunity to shoot aboard an actual battleship. However, this also comes at a price. With your help, we can make this film one of the most realistic and professional products to come out of Emerson College. Thank you! http://rkthb.co/6561
