On Thursday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. Larry Sider, founder and director of the internationally respected School of Sound in London and collaborator with the Quay Brothers for over 20 years, leads a dynamic and entertaining tutorial in conversation with the Quays, focusing on the creation of the sound element in their films. Sider is a sound designer and film editor who has worked for 30 years in documentary, animation and fiction, and has created soundtracks and/or edited some of the most original independent European films during that time, including STREET OF CROCODILES, INSTITUTE BENJAMENTA, and THE PIANO TUNER OF EARTHQUAKES for the Quay Brothers. With Diane Freeman, he has elevated the profile of sound in screen productions through the biennial masterclass symposium, The School of Sound, an international four-day event exploring the use of sound in the arts and media. Participants have included such esteemed names as Walter Murch, Carter Burwell, Lynne Ramsay, and Ken Loach.
