Some popular icons include Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.

Now, just having a celebrity is not necessarily enough. Look to some films from, and about the 50s, like Grease. Some of the looks of the time like Teddy Boys or poodle skirts. If you are going as a couple look at complimenting your costumes.
