Connect with yourself, with your character, with your audience. Release is the keyword. Meet the complexity and power of Shakespeare’s language with your own vital self. Please prepare and memorize a 15 to 20 line passage from one of the plays. Any character, gender, age. Please bring a First Folio version of your text. Come prepared to move.

BIOGRAPHY

Dev Luthra trained as an actor at the East 15 Acting School, London, England and at Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, MA with master teachers Kevin Coleman, Karen Beaumont and Susan Dibble among others. He has studied improvisation with Ruth Zaporah and Keith Johnstone and political theater with Augusto boal. Acting credits include Firebugs (Huellas Vivas), Twelfth Night (Sun Valley Shakespeare Festival), Henry IV, Pt. 1 (Palace Theatre), Antony & Cleopatra (Boston Theatre Works), N. Bonaparte (Pilgrim Theatre). He has taught and directed at Emerson College and Boston College. Dev is also the Artistic Director of And Still We Rise Productions, a theatre company committed to the advocacy of prisoners’ and former prisoners’ rights. His play Macbeth’s Children, co-written with Michael Bettencourt, won an AATE New Play award.
