Cost: $175 THE MEISNER TECHNIQUE No Class week of February 16. Acting craft centers on several fundamental methodologies: actions and objectives which is the basis of American Method acting and the moment to moment observation work developed by Sanford Meisner. This workshop will introduce you to Meisner's moment to moment craft as the basis of staying alive and fresh, take after take on a film set, or night after night on stage. Observation exercises and states of listening become your keys to brilliant moment to moment work that is fresh and engaging. Through a series of progressive exercises, we'll explore this fascinating "partner" to actions and objective based technique to discover your essential spontaneity, key to playing a scene for the "first time, every time. TO REGISTER: HESTER SCHELL, MFA is a master acting teacher, director, writer and producer. Her book, CASTING REVEALED: A Guide for Independent Filmmakers will be published this year by Michael Wiese Productions (wpm.com). Teaching includes colleges and universities in California including De Anza College, Notre Dame de Namur University, the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking and the Film Arts Foundation. She recently directed for the Provincetown Playwrights' Festival and her short play, A CUP OF COFFEE premiered in the New England Russian Theatre Festival, where she also directed two pieces. Another play is a finalist with the Vermont Repertory Theatre's annual Nor'Easter playwriting competition. Also an accomplished filmmaker and actor, her films have played festivals. She is the CEO of Bay Area Casting News (www.bayareacasting.com). She is a member of Harvard Square Screen Writers, Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Radio and Television Artists.
