6-WEEK MEISNER/CHEKHOV INTENSIVE

Posted in
Event Location:
Cost:
2 classes weekly/$495

THE MEISNER TECHNIQUE is a direct and powerful approach to truthful acting. For film and television acting, in particular, behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances is the bottom line. Actors who can do that, get noticed. They get remembered. And they get work.

THE CHEKHOV METHOD frees the actor’s natural talent and opens the door to creative inspiration. Chekhov training and practice develops the actor’s whole psycho-physical instrument, the means for creative expression. Such development is the pivotal basis for the actor’s work. Upon it rests the actor’s likelihood for professional and artistic success.

THE MEISNER/CHEKHOV FOUNDATION INTENSIVE is for beginning actors who recognize the importance of building a solid foundation for their creative work. More experienced actors who rightly feel the need to sharpen their basic skills will also benefit from this training.

The Meisner and Chekhov techniques are complementary approaches to acting which
• Ground the actor in his or her body
• Awaken and elaborate the artistic imagination
• Strengthen the capacity for intense inner action
• Loosen habitual restrictions to expressive emotion
• Develop and sharpen the feeling for truthful behavior

SCOTT FIELDING teaches the Meisner/Chekhov Intensive. He is the director of Michael Chekhov Actors Studio Boston and leads The Chekhov Training program. He is an award-winning director and actor with over twenty years’ professional experience; a faculty member of the Michael Chekhov Association (MICHA); the artistic director of Alchymia Theatre; and a member of New York’s, The Actors’ Ensemble, with Off-Broadway, Chicago and L.A. credits. Scott is internationally regarded as a master teacher of the Chekhov method. He taught Meisner technique at California State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Academy of Dramatic Arts Zagreb, and elsewhere in the US and Europe. He trained with Sandy Meisner protégé Bill Esper at William Esper Studio, NYC. New to Boston, Scott lived until recently in Southeastern Europe, directing and teaching extensively throughout the Balkans.
