Filmmaking Seminars at LLV Film Festival

$10.00 for one workshop/seminar, $15.00 to sign up for two

The LLV Film Festival is pleased to announce that there will be two “back to back” seminars for beginning filmmakers at the festival on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The cost is $10.00 per seminar, with a special rate of $15.00 if a student enrolls in both seminars. The seminars are being held at Mitchell College on Montauk Avenue in New London, CT in the Weller Conference Room in the Clarke Center.

Seminar 1: “Special Effects and CGI”
5:00 PM to 6:30 PM - Weller Conference Room

Presented by Mitchell College Professor Rich Lucas, who is also the president of Synthetic Cinema International. The seminar will be structured as follows:
Opening: Approximately 45 minutes of presentation covering:
Getting Started in the Industry: How Andrew first broke into film production and distribution and how Synthetic Cinema International entered the market in 2005.
Producing "Genre" films in CT and in general: Tales from the "trenches" of SCI’s feature films, from"Predator Island" through "Opponent." How to plan and make your film better...what will set you above the rest. Topics with visual support will cover film elements such as, the use of CGI, colorization and sound to enhance the marketability of a film.
Current Distribution Trends: Where is the film industry going? DVD... BluRay... VOD... Download... something New?
Followed by: Approximately 45 minutes of Q&A.

Screenwriting fundamentals: How to write screenplays that get made into films.
Making Films with Low Cash Flow: Learn about the practical means of getting short films made on minimal budgets.

Nicky is the screenwriter of the highly successful film "The Curse Of Micah Rood." He has also written a number of screenplays that have been made into independent films that premiered in cinemas, and his films have made extensive treks to film fests across the country. Nicky also teaches screenwriting to students of all ages who have seen their works produced and shown.
