About Jesse Hassinger

I began filmmaking and photography in junior high school. Continuing my interests and honing them to concentrate on cinematography as an undergraduate at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY. I completed a post-baccalaureate year at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston where I focused my attention on experimental filmmaking and large format photography. I attended the California Institute of the Arts outside of Los Angeles, CA where I received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from their Film/Video program. I have studied under a wide range of talent including: Betzy Bromberg, James Benning, Paul Turano, Phil Solomon, Bill Morrison, Patrick Bokanowski, Bela Tarr, and Ernie Gehr to name but a few. While in Los Angeles I worked on a number of professional feature and short films having won a Golden Eagle award for "Exact Fare" and a best in genre award for the Hot Docs short: "I=ME2". My films have been shown internationally in festivals in Paris as well as Boston and Los Angeles. I recently have relocated back to the Boston area to get involved in feature, documentary and short film work in New England.
